Giving your Sims Traits

Last Updated:
Welcome to our Sims 4 Traits guide. Here, we’ll be covering Traits for your Sims. You might be wondering what they are and how they affect your character. We’ll know more about their quirks and effects. This will help you get more out of your Sims by providing them with a personality.

When creating your Sims, you might be wondering what Traits are and what they do for your characters in the game. Are they the same as Aspirations or are they something else? In a way, you can think of Traits as specific aspects of your character that form their personality.

What exactly are traits?

Unlike us people, we can have different traits of personality and this can change over time. In the Sims 4, when creating your Sims, you start off by choosing three Traits first. You can mix and match different combinations, and make traits that can help out specific career paths. Also, as your Sim progresses and achieves their aspirations, you can get a reward trait as well and add it to the additional three that you have.

Alongside with aspirations, your Sim can have up to 3 traits available in order to make them unique. Traits provide your character with different quirks regarding their personality, and these can provide you with bonuses in some aspects of the game. Not only that, the traits that you choose can affect how a Sims act and behave. This means that their movement, animation, and the way they talk can be affected by these traits. Some bonuses for traits can include not needing sleep, or not needing to go to the bathroom.

What are reward traits?

There is an option in the game called reward traits which you can acquire. Since traits provide you with bonuses, you can aim to get reward traits in order to provide your Sim with more skills in order to help them with their goals. You can get reward traits if you complete a Sim’s Aspiration, and you can also purchase traits from the Reward Store using satisfaction.

Giving your Sims Traits

Satisfaction is provided if you were able to help achieve the goals that a Sims have for their aspiration. Once you have completed their life goals, you can change their aspiration in order to complete more. If you’re able to get a Sim with a lot of traits, having 12 of them will provide you with an achievement.
